About
Dave Mackay is a pianist, keyboardist, composer and producer from Leicestershire, England. After an introduction to the piano at age 5, his musical explorations took root through classical training at the Royal College of Music JD and jazz/composition studies at Berklee College of Music. He has since carved out an eclectic, multi-disciplinary career in the music industry, flourishing both as a solo performer and as a trusted collaborator with many prominent artists.
Mackay has toured extensively with Brandi Carlile, Leon Bridges, Art Garfunkel, Theo Katzman and Plini. He has also performed with legendary singer/songwriters Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell, Rufus Wainwright and Sarah McLachlan. While his creative expression is rooted at the piano, he is often called upon as a sound designer and producer for his fluency with electronics and synthesizers. His work is featured on recordings by Cynic, Duncan Laurence, Vulfmon and Scary Pockets among many others.
Transcending medium or style, his solo records are statements of stillness and deep intention. Whether through the lens of a solo piano piece, a conversation amongst a jazz trio, or via a labyrinth of electronic soundscapes, his music invites the listener into a space of self-reflection and introspection.
Dave uses Nord keyboards and Sequential synthesizers.
